Aurangabad, July 12:

District Civil Surgeon (DCS) Dr S V Kulkarni inaugurated the Pneumococcal vaccination campaign at District Civil Hospital (DCH) on Monday.

Additional DCS Dr Kamlakar Mudkhedkar, Dr Sunil Gaikwad, RMO Dr Pallavi Pagdaal, Dr Bharti Nagre, Dr Sonawne, Dr Kusum Bhalerao were present.

Young children are more vulnerable to pneumococcal infections. Pneumococcal vaccination was included general vaccination driver to save the life of children from its bacteria.

Under the drive, a 45-days-old baby would be administered the first dose.

The second dose will be given to the children after three and half months and the third dose (booster) after nine months. District health officer Dr Sudhakar Shelke said that the Pneumococcal vaccination drive began in rural areas also.
