In view of industrial security, legal responsibilities and rising concerns in the Waluj MIDC area, an important meeting was held on Tuesday at the MASSIA office to strengthen coordination between entrepreneurs and the police. During the meeting, industrialists raised various issues related to traffic, illegal activities, labour verification and security, and demanded concrete measures. Police officials, in response, offered guidance and assured better coordination.
The meeting was held at 5 pm at Anil Vishwasrao Chavan Hall, More Chowk. It was conducted under the guidance of deputy commissioner of police (zone–1) Pankaj Atulkar. Police officials, MASSIA president Gajanan Deshmukh, vice-president Rahul Mogale, Anil Patil and several entrepreneurs were present.
What issues were raised by industrialists?
Entrepreneurs complained about alleged unnecessary fines imposed by traffic police at the AS Club signal. Concerns were raised over increasing nuisance by individuals consuming drugs in open plots in the industrial area, misbehaviour with security guards, illegal liquor sales and inadequate response from the emergency ‘112’ service.
Other key issues highlighted included goods trucks standing on roads at Kamgar Chowk, workers possessing fake Aadhaar cards, individuals posing as journalists to extort money, and inconvenience caused by auto-rickshaw drivers.
Report suspicious activities immediately
Deputy commissioner of police Pankaj Atulkar stated that additional police force has been deployed in the Waluj MIDC area compared to other police stations. He also addressed issues related to handcarts, technical problems at traffic signals and traffic management at Oasis Chowk. He urged citizens to immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.
Focus on worker verification
Police advised industries to verify original Aadhaar cards of workers before granting entry and not rely on photocopies. Police inspector Shivcharan Pandhare stressed the importance of verifying every worker entering company premises. The department assured assistance in verifying workers to ensure they are not suspicious or foreign nationals. Assistant commissioner of police Ashok Rajput assured immediate action on complaints related to extortion.
