Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
In a noteworthy and positive development, Suvarna Jadhav, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Dy CEO) of the Zilla Parishad, arrived at the AITUC office in Khokadpura on Wednesday to personally accept a memorandum before the protest march began.
The Anganwadi Workers Union, affiliated with AITUC, had organised a protest march demanding the resolution of 30 long-pending issues, including implementation of honorarium as per GR (Government Resolution), reduction in working hours during summer, promotions for assistants, and voicing opposition to the proposed Public Safety Bill.
The Deputy CEO explained, “Due to the intense heat, I came here myself so that the protest does not have to march to the zilla parishad.”
Respecting her gesture, the protest was taken out only from the AITUC office to Paithan Gate, where demonstrations were held for an hour. The 30-point memorandum was submitted to Jadhav at the AITUC office, followed by a discussion.
The protest was led by the Union’s District President Com. Prof. Ram Baheti, Organiser Com. Anil Jawale, Secretary Com. Tara Bansode, along with Com. Sheela Sathe, Vilas Shengule, Meera Adsare, Ashwini Thorat, Anita Pawade, Chanchal Khandagale, and others.
Anganwadi workers strongly opposed the proposed Maharashtra Public Safety Bill, stating that it would curtail citizens' rights. Referring to the GR, they stated to release Rs 15,000 monthly honorarium for Anganwadi workers and Rs 8,500 for helpers; Criteria for receiving higher honorarium based on a 100-point performance system; Who will assign these points, and how will it be evaluated? These concerns were directly presented to the deputy CEO by the AITUC delegation.
