Residents of Padampura faced prolonged power outages for the second consecutive day on Saturday, forcing citizens to endure severe heat throughout the day. Intermittent electricity disruptions were also reported from several other parts of the city.
Angry residents of two lanes in Padampura had staged a late-night protest on Friday after electricity remained unavailable for nearly 17 hours. Citizens came out on the streets around midnight and expressed strong resentment against the functioning of maharashtra state electricity distribution company limited (MSEDCL). The power supply was restored around 12.20 am, barely 20 minutes after the protest. However, electricity was again disrupted at around 8 am on Saturday. Residents alleged that repeated assurances were given by officials that supply would resume shortly, but power remained unavailable till evening. Due to the outage, fans and coolers remained shut, causing immense discomfort to residents, especially children and senior citizens. According to Dr Aarti Devatwal, power supply, which went off at 8 am, was restored only around 6 pm. Similar problems were reported from other areas as well. Electricity supply remained disrupted in the Itkheda area between 12 noon and 1 pm, while parts of Deolai also witnessed temporary outages during the afternoon. Residents of Garkheda complained about frequent voltage fluctuations and intermittent supply. Officials from MSEDCL said a line trip had caused temporary disruption in Garkheda, but the supply was restored promptly.
