Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) Commissioner Amol Yedge has adopted an aggressive approach towards recovery of pending property tax dues from the very first day of his tenure. On Monday, he held a video conference with officials from all ten civic zones and issued strict directives regarding tax collection.

The commissioner instructed every ward officer to prepare a list of 100 properties with pending dues in their respective jurisdictions and personally monitor the recovery process. He also directed recovery teams to visit at least 50 properties every day to follow up on pending tax payments. He warned that employees showing negligence or laxity in their work would face direct dismissal from service.

Yedge said assistant commissioners concerned should personally pursue recovery from major defaulters. He further instructed officials to identify properties that have either not been assessed for tax or where tax remains unpaid, and to ensure immediate assessment and recovery.

The commissioner stressed that a complete survey of all properties should be completed within one month. Officials have also been directed to continuously monitor the ‘Shreemitra Dashboard’ to track how many properties bill collectors have visited, how many assessments have been carried out and the amount of tax recovered.

He warned that recovery figures must show improvement in the next review meeting. While officials performing well would receive appreciation and encouragement, those failing to meet targets would remain under close scrutiny.

Issuing a stern warning, Yedge said employees conducting the least number of property surveys could face dismissal from service for negligence in work.

Additional commissioner Kalpita Pimpale and deputy commissioner Vikas Nawale were present during the review meeting, while all ward officers participated online.
