Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A procession of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's portrait was taken out with great fanfare to the beats of dhol and tasha at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University on Tuesday as part of the birth anniversary celebrations.
As part of the weeklong programme held from April 7 to 14, various competitions and lectures were also organised. The procession began at 8.30 AM from the statue in front of the university gate, with the Vice-Chancellor, officers, teachers and students participating wearing blue turbans.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari inaugurated the procession by offering flowers to the portrait. Boys and girls won the hearts of the audience by performing martial arts displays. After approximately three hours, the procession concluded near Dr Ambedkar's statue within the university premises.
Registrar Dr Prashant Amrutkar, Director of Students Development Board Dr Kailas Ambhure, all Deans and other dignitaries were present.
