Theft bid at guarded underpass; PWD installs barricades as Shivajinagar passage braces for monsoon

An attempt to steal the iron railings of the Shivajinagar underpass has come to light, even as five police personnel are deployed on both sides of the underpass. The accused, believed to be local miscreants as per information received by Lokmat Times, targeted the railings used by heavy vehicles commuting through the passage. The incident has raised serious questions about the effectiveness of the security deployment at one of the city's key infrastructure points. Locals and commuters have expressed concern over the safety of the structure, particularly given the heavy vehicle movement that relies on the underpass daily.

PWD preps for monsoon

PWD officials inspected the Shivajinagar underpass, checking the levels of the passage floor and installing new barricades to prevent vehicles from getting stranded inside during the monsoon season. The move follows last year's complete waterlogging of the underpass, as authorities work to prevent a repeat this year.
