Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Around Rs 100 crore of funds remain unutilised with the Public Works Department and the Water Conservation Department. Although these departments have received approvals for various works, the funds have not been spent. The planning department has now set a deadline of March 27 for the concerned departments to utilise the funds.

It is mandatory to plan and allocate works worth Rs 733 crore under the district planning scheme by March 31. Departments that are unable to utilise the funds by this date will have to return the unspent amount by March 27, so that it can be reallocated in time.

District planning officer Bharat Wayal said that approximately Rs 70 crore is lying unused with the Public Works Department, while about Rs 30 crore remains with the Water Conservation Department. Administrative-level correspondence has been initiated regarding this. He also claimed that efforts are underway to ensure 100% utilisation of the funds.

Most bills cleared, work approvals in place

“Most of the bills for the works have been cleared, and approvals for new works have also been obtained. Around 95% of the funds will be utilised. So far, Rs 4.5 crore has been returned. All works will be completed within the deadline set by the administration,” said executive engineer, (B and C) Public Works Department, Sheshrao Chavan.
