Burglars looted cash and valuables worth over Rs 8 lakh, including $1,900 in foreign currency, from the residence of a construction businessman in the N-1 Sector E area. The incident occurred while the family was away in Mumbai, with the break-in discovered on April 7. Police registered the case at the MIDC Cidco station on Wednesday and have begun reviewing CCTV footage for leads.

Pravin Runwal (63), the house owner and a builder by profession, had left for Mumbai with his family on April 6 at 4 pm. The next day around 6 pm, a domestic worker noticed the main door ajar and the kitchen window open. She immediately alerted Runwal, who returned to the city and informed police. Upon inspection, it was found that the burglars had entered by breaking the iron grille of the kitchen window. The channel gate lock was also damaged, confirming forced entry. Officers, including PI Gajanan Kalyankar and API Bharat Pachole, inspected the crime scene soon after the report. The stolen items include Rs 2.5 lakh in cash from a wooden cupboard, Rs 2.1 lakh from an iron safe, a Rado wristwatch valued at lakhs, two silver coins, $1,900 in US dollars, and a pair of premium headphones. Police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area and pursuing technical analysis to track the culprits. Further investigation is ongoing.
