Sillod man killed in Bolero crash; one seriously injured in Vaijapur

In two separate road accidents reported in the last 24 hours in Phulambri and Vaijapur tehsils, one person was killed and two others sustained serious injuries. The deceased has been identified as Arif Habib Shaikh (43), a resident of Sillod (currently residing in Misarwadi).

The first incident occurred around 3 am on Tuesday near Lahanewadi Phata on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Jalgaon highway. Arif Shaikh and Avinash Laxman Gaikwad (resident of Misarwadi) were travelling on a motorcycle (MH 20 HL 0277) from Sillod towards Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar when a speeding Bolero jeep (MH 37 G 7707) rammed into their vehicle from behind. Shaikh died in the accident, while Gaikwad sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Based on a complaint filed by Saber Razak Shah, a case has been registered against the jeep driver at Phulambri police station. Further investigation is underway.

Motorcyclist seriously injured in tempo collision

In another incident, Somnath Jagannath Kalunkhe (55), a resident of Jalgaon (Vaijapur taluka), was seriously injured after a speeding tempo (MH 20 EG 1769) hit his motorcycle (MH 17 AR 5137) near Ladamsari Phata in Lasurgaon area around 10:30 pm on Monday. He was returning home from a local fair when the accident occurred. He was initially treated at Vaijapur sub-district hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. A case has been registered against the tempo driver at Vaijapur police station based on a complaint by Rajan Kalunkhe.
