Aurangabad, April 30:

The 124 km stretch of the Solapur-Aurangabad-Dhule National Highway No 52 (Old 211) passing from the district is expected to be open for traffic at full capacity by the end of August. While inspecting the work of this highway on Friday, district collector Sunil Chavan gave some suggestions regarding the toll plaza at Karodi.

At present, the work is 90 per cent complete and will be opened by the end of August, NHAI officials claimed. The work is moving at a slow pace as several workers working on the highway have contracted coronavirus. The NHAI has written to the district administration to vaccinate these workers and employees. After inspecting the site for the proposed toll plaza at Karodi, the collector suggested providing toilets, medical facilities, CCTV, fast tag facilities for vehicle owners at the toll plaza. The 30 km work from Aurangabad to Karodi will cost Rs 513 crore. With the opening of the highway to traffic soon, it will be possible to divert traffic from the Beed Bypass road to a new highway. The work is being done by L&T construction company. Arvind Kale, project director, NHAI informed the collector that the work of 38 km Murma to Aurangabad and 56 km Karodi to Telwadi is complete.

Aurangabad to Shirdi road to be 10 meters

The width of the 80 km road from Aurangabad (Karodi to Shirdi) will be increased from 7 meters to 10 meters. As space is available, no additional land acquisition is required. Collector Chavan directed to prepare and submit the DPR for this road widening immediately.
