State scrap proposals of regularising services of CHB teachers in AMC high schools
Aurangabad, Dec 16:
Maharashtra Government has scrapped the proposals, passed in the general body (GB) meeting of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), of regularising the services of 22 high school teachers serving in civic schools, on clock-hour-basis (CHB), for the past many years. The state Urban Development Department (UDD) has issued an order in this regard recently. Earlier, the Aurangabad Bench of Bombay High Court had directed the state government to take its final decision on regularising the services of CHB teachers.
The AMC has started classes VIIIth to Xth (high school section) from 2009. Initially, it had appointed 34 CHB teachers. Later on, 22 CHB teachers continue to render their services in civic schools. The GB passed a first resolution stating that these CHB teachers should award designations of an assistant teacher (secondary school education). The AMC then sent the resolution to the Zilla Parishad''s education department in March 2015. In the meantime, the GB passed a second resolution (on July 20, 2017) stating to grant pay scale to these CHB teachers as they were appointed considering caste wise reservation (Bindunamavali Arakshan) in service. However, the then municipal commissioner sent both the resolutions passed by GB for final take of the state government. He recommended to cancel them. Besides, one Zahed Khan Pathan filed a petition in this regard in the High Court. In response to which, the judiciary ordered the state government to decide upon it in six months.
On the other hand, the CHB teachers had also urged the government to consider their plea for justice. However, the state government has finally taken the decision to scrap these proposals passed by the GB. It stated that AMC purely made the recruitment of these CHB teachers on a temporary basis.
