Statement demanding unsecured loan to junior lawyer
Aurangabad, Nov 10:
Junior lawyers with less than five years of professional experience (practice) should also be included in the loan scheme of Rs 3 lakhs. Statement of these and other demands was made to member of the state bar council advocate Amol Sawant on Tuesday. Sawant assured that junior lawyers will be included in the loan scheme.
The statement said that Covid-19 has had a big impact on the legal profession. Therefore, Maharashtra and Goa Bar Council has come up with a plan to provide an unsecured loan of Rs 3 lakh through Bank of India. However, this scheme will be applicable only to lawyers with more than 5 years of professional experience. For the last six months, only urgent hearings and remands are being heard in the court. This has had a huge financial impact on the legal profession. Junior lawyers are in dire need of financial assistance. Hence the junior lawyers should be paid a monthly apprenticeship salary of Rs 7,000. The bar council should plan concrete measures to ensure that junior lawyers are not neglected in the future, the statement said. Advocates Sandeep Andhale, Umesh Gite, Amol Ghuge, Siddhesh Ghodke, Sunil Rathore and other lawyers were present.
