Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

With clean water now flowing through the Kham River, municipal commissioner G Sreekanth has instructed officials to ensure that the Sukhna River also witnesses similar improvement. He directed that the inflow of polluted water into the Sukhna riverbed be stopped immediately.

The commissioner inspected the Sukhna riverbed on Wednesday. City engineer Sanjay Kombade, chief garden superintendent Vijay Patil, engineer Swapnali Mane and Jaywant Kulkarni were present during the visit. He expressed satisfaction over the completion of deepening, widening and rock pitching work along a nearly half-kilometre stretch from Chikalthana crematorium to the bridge located behind the airport.

At present, polluted water flowing into the Kham River is intercepted, treated and then released as clean water into the riverbed. The civic chief instructed officials to implement a similar mechanism for the Sukhna River. He also directed that the work in the stretch from Chikalthana Market to District Civil Hospital be completed on priority.
