Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Over the past three years, the highest recorded maximum temperature of 43.4°C was documented last month on April 26.
The temperature reached 43.4°C once more on Monday, with a minimum temperature of 27.2°C. The impact of the heat wave has been intensifying over the last two days. The Meteorological Department has warned that temperatures are expected to remain at record highs after May 10, and Monday's readings have confirmed this trend.
The scorching sun and heat waves have been noticeable in the city and surrounding areas for the past two days. The maximum temperature recorded at the MGM University weather observatory was 42.8°C at 3:17 PM and 29.7°C at 6:38 AM. Meanwhile, the Gandheli observatory recorded a maximum of 41.2°C and a minimum of 29.0°C during the same period. The MGM Padegaon observatory reported a maximum of 41.5°C and a minimum of 29.5°C.

Temperature Conditions Throughout Day
From 8 AM to 10 AM, the maximum temperature ranged from 27°C to 32°C, after which it began to rise. The hottest period was from noon to 4 PM, when temperatures exceeded 40°C to 43°C in the city and surrounding areas. After 4 PM, temperatures started to drop, although the heat in the atmosphere persisted into the evening.

From May 1 to 10, temperatures stayed below 40°C. However, temperatures began to rise on May 10, with Monday marking the first recorded highest temperature of May. In the afternoon, the heat wave caused roads to be deserted, and many residents chose to stay indoors. The peak temperature occurred between 11 AM and 3 PM and remained high even after 5:30 PM.

Yellow Alert Issued for City
The increase in temperatures is attributed to lower atmospheric humidity, dry weather conditions, and reduced wind speeds. The Weather Centre has issued a Yellow Alert for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna districts for the next two days, forecasting a further rise in maximum temperatures.
