A Yeola-based teacher allegedly kidnapped city resident Aziz Kaskar on Tuesday around 10 am over a Rs 7 lakh demand and confined him in Yeola. The accused also called Kaskar’s wife, threatening to kill him if the money was not paid. She immediately approached the city police, after which the crime branch launched a swift technical operation and rescued him safely within 24 hours, senior police inspector gajanan kalyankar said.
The accused are identified as teacher Janardan ugale (38), vilas Dada Ahvad (55), both from Yeola in Nashik district, along with others. Police said Kaskar, from Padegaon Kasambari Dargah area, was abducted in a black Scorpio and taken to a room in a bhakt niwas near a temple in Yeola, where he was allegedly beaten. The kidnappers again called his wife demanding Rs 7 lakh and issued death threats. ,His wife rushed to chavani police station, following which commissioner praveen pawar ordered immediate action. A special team led by DCP Ratnakar Navale and police inspector Gajanan Kalyankar, including police sub-inspectors Jagannath Menkudale, Dilip Modi, Prakash Gaikwad, Asharf Sayyed, Santosh Chaure and Rohit Jadhav, was sent to Yeola. A family member of the victim coordinated with the accused, who were made to believe the ransom was ready. They were called to Yeola bus stand, where police laid a trap and arrested Ahvad first, followed by main accused ugale, rescuing Kaskar safely.

Rs 15 lakh fake currency angle surfaces
Police said ugale later claimed he had paid Rs 15 lakh to Kaskar for Rs 30 lakh in fake currency notes, with a city-based middleman Raju involved. After not receiving the fake notes, he allegedly carried out the abduction. He also claimed other kidnappings were staged as part of the conspiracy. Police said Raju’s role is under investigation. Ugale is a school teacher in Yeola and also manages a bus stand parking contract in his mother’s name, while Ahvad was collecting parking fees through receipts.
