Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

As attacks on revenue officers by the illegal mining mafia escalate, the maharashtra state tehsildar and naib tehsildar Association has urged the government to provide permanent armed security guards to tehsildars.

The demand follows a series of violent incidents targeting officials cracking down on illegal minor mineral excavation. Last month, Tehsildar Ramesh Mundlod was attacked during an anti-sand mining operation. Before the shock could settle, another team in Jalna district faced a similar assault. "Earlier, attacks were limited to talathis and circle officers, but now, even tehsildars, deputy collectors, and additional district collectors are being targeted," said Marathwada president of the association Vijay Chavan.

The association has strongly condemned the recent attack on the revenue team in Partur and demanded stringent action against the attackers under MCOCA, externment laws, and MPDA. It insists that the government must immediately deploy armed guards for all tehsildars to ensure their safety.
