Aurangabad, Oct 22:

Thieves broke into a house at Radhaswami Colony on Jatwada Road during the wee hours on Thursday while the housemates were sleeping and made off with 8 tolas of gold jewellery, 167 grams silver jewellery and Rs 85,000 cash, all worth Rs 5 lakh. A case has been registered at Harsul police station in this regard.

Complainant, Sunil Dhumsingh Chavan lives in a joint family including two brother, sister and parents. As usual, Sunil went to sleep on Wednesday as usual at 10 pm on the ground floor of the house and the other members on the upper floor. Sunil locked the door of the house from inside. Thieves entered the house by breaking the lock of the main entrance. They broke the cupboard in the kitchen room and took away gold jewellery weighing 8 tolas (ring, chain, necklace, earrings) and silver ornaments weighing 167 grams. Similarly, they also took away Rs 87,000 cash kept in the cupboard.

In the morning, Sunil’s wife woke up and noticed about the theft. She woke all the other members of the family. Harsul police were informed about the theft. PI, Sachin Ingole, API Nitin Kame, Manoj Shinde, PSI P S Bhagile and others rushed to the spot. The police also called the figure print experts and dog squad. The thieves took away the jewellery and threw the empty jewellery boxes at the backyard of the house.
