Marathwada is on the cusp of a major industrial breakthrough. Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Japanese automobile giant, is set to establish a state-of-the-art electric four-wheeler manufacturing plant at the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) node in Bidkin a move that signals a new chapter for the region's economic growth.
With shovels already in the ground across 827 acres of acquired land, the plant is racing toward commercial production in the first half of 2029. The facility is designed to roll out one lakh vehicles annually, making it one of the most significant automotive investments in Maharashtra's recent history.

A mega-investment unfolding in phases
First announced in July 2024, the Rs 25,000 crore phased investment has now gained fresh momentum. The Bidkin plant will house world-class stamping, welding, painting, and assembly units all under one roof and will exclusively manufacture a new SUV model tailored to meet both domestic and export market demands.

2,800 jobs in initial phase
The project is expected to create approximately 2,800 direct jobs in its initial phase alone, offering a significant employment boost to the Marathwada region. Beyond jobs, Toyota's presence is poised to attract ancillary industries, strengthen Maharashtra's automobile supply chain, and position the state as a key player in India's fast-evolving automotive ecosystem.
