Aurangabad, June 30:

Cidco administration has decided to cancel projects 1 and 2 in Waluj Mahanagar. A petition has also been filed in the bench against the decision. If it is decided to transfer both the projects to Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), then it will be checked whether Cidco has provided 100 per cent basic facilities there first. For this, a joint inspection will be done with Cidco officials, said municipal administrator Astik Kumar Pandey on Wednesday.

According to the petition filed in the bench, the number of citizens living in Cidco projects in Waluj is around two and a half lakh. The board of directors of Cidco have canceled both the projects. Cidco has not provided any infrastructure facilities in this area. If facilities like roads, water, drainage, bridges, solid waste processing projects and lighting are not provided then how will the municipal corporation transfer such a project, said Pandey. Unless Cidco provides one hundred percent basic facilities in a project, we will not transfer any project. Municipal corporation has also been made a defendant in the petition. We will present our case in the bench, Pandey added. In the last five years, AMC has not been able to provide any basic facilities in the Satara-Deolai area. Demands are being made to the government for facilities like roads, drainage and water in these areas. However, nothing has been done yet.

Financial condition deteriorated

AMC was established in 1982 and 18 villages around the city were included in the municipal limits. Cidco-Hudco was then transferred to the municipal corporation. Recently, Satara-Deolai was transferred into municipal limits as per the government order. Discussions on the transfer of the Cidco project at Waluj have been going on for the past few days. However, the financial condition of the corporation had deteriorated.
