The process of transferring deputy collectors across Marathwada has begun. Election department deputy collector Devendra Katke has been transferred to Dharashiv in the same post. In his place, Jalna supply officer Savita Chaudhar has been appointed.

The government had earlier issued instructions that transfers should be completed in view of the upcoming Census and SIR process, and no mid-term transfers would be made thereafter, as directed by the Census Directorate and Election Commission. Accordingly, IAS officers were transferred in the first phase, followed by the start of deputy collector-level transfers. Indications suggest that transfers of tahsildars will follow soon. Administrative sources indicate that all transfers are likely to be completed by the end of this week.
