The 'Jharkhand Gang' of mobile thieves has resurfaced at Jadhavwadi market, stealing over 12 mobiles between 8.15 and 8.45 am on Sunday.
Farmer Prabhakr Aher from Kolthan noticed his phone missing and, along with others who had also been robbed, tracked down two suspects Rohankumar Chaurasia (20) and Anil Noniya (20), both from Sahebganj, Jharkhand. They were handed over to Cidco Police and arrested; a third accomplice fled. Victims include Dnyaneshwar Sonawane, Sanjay Wagh, Rajesh Dandanaik, Vishnu Ambhore, Sanjay Warkad, Sandeep Harane, Dhanasing Mhaske, Dnyaneshwar Surase, Narayan Adhapure, Noor Mohammad Nabi Shaikh, and Suresh Jadhav. This is the second time in six months a Jharkhand-Bihar gang has been caught at the same market the earlier gang included minors, but its ringleaders were never traced. The gang's method: thieves steal phones and immediately pass them to a lookout, then move to the next target. Only one stolen mobile was recovered from the arrested duo. The gang operates from Shirdi where cheap accommodation is available hitting nearby city markets for two to three days before moving on, returning after a month or two.
