Two friends killed as scooty hits divider on Paithan–Solapur Highway

Two young men were killed after their scooty rammed into a road divider on the Thapti tanda bridge along the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Solapur National Highway around 11 am on Saturday. One died on Saturday, while the other succumbed to injuries on Sunday during treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Akash Pachange (25, native of Jamkhed in Ambad tehsil of Jalna district), currently residing at Wadgaon Kolhati, Bajajnagar, and Deepak Kakade (25, Santnagar). According to police, Pachange and Kakade were travelling on a scooty (MH-21-CE-9542) to Akash’s native village Jamkhed on Saturday morning when the vehicle went out of control on the Thapti Tanda bridge and crashed into the divider. Both sustained serious injuries in the accident. Upon receiving information, a toll naka ambulance rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Doctors declared Deepak Kakade dead at around 12.30 pm on Saturday. Akash Pachange, who was critically injured, succumbed to his injuries at around 11 am on Sunday. After being alerted, Pachod police sub-inspector Sheshrao Chavan and Jamadar B.A. Sable visited the accident site and conducted a spot inspection. The inquest panchnama was later carried out at the hospital. An accidental death report was registered at the Pachod police station around 8 pm on Sunday. Further investigation is underway by PSI Sheshrao Chavan.
