Waluj GP witnesses uproar on water scarcity

Waluj village is facing a severe water crisis, and citizens are having to wander in search of drinking water. In light of this, a serious discussion was held on water issues during the monthly meeting of the Grampanchayat on Tuesday. As the Sarpanch was absent, the meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of Deputy Sarpanch Yogesh Argade. During the meeting, the members raised the issue of water scarcity and questioned the Village Development Officer (VDO), Uttam Bhondwe, about the situation.

Due to the water supply being provided only once every 15 days, citizens are forced to buy tanker water. The water in the borewells has dried up, and it has come to light that the newly constructed overhead water tank with a capacity of 7 lakh litres is empty. This tank has now become more of a decorative item than a functional one. To address this issue urgently, the office-bearers pressured the VDO. The monthly meeting turned into a stormy session, during which the VDO found himself in a difficult position. After much discussion, a resolution was passed to lift water from the well in Lakshmi grazing land into the tank through a pipeline.

Despite spending lakhs of rupees, the water tank that has been under construction for several months remains empty, making it more of an ornamental object.
