Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

The much-awaited fifth edition of the ‘Lokmat Sarpanch awards’, presented by BKT and powered by Santoor, co-powered by Tata Power Solar Roof and itel, has been launched. Villages across the state are gearing up for the prestigious recognition.

A total of 13 categories will honour outstanding village heads who have delivered impactful development in their gram panchayats. If you have led transformative work as a sarpanch, Lokmat will ensure your efforts receive recognition at the district and state levels. The previous four editions witnessed an overwhelming response from gram panchayats across Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed and other districts. Registrations are now open for the fifth edition.

Selection process

• All applications will be scrutinised by a jury panel.

• Shortlisted gram panchayats will be visited by jury members for on-ground inspection.

• Based on evaluation, sarpanches and gram panchayats will be selected across 13 categories.

• The award ceremony will be held in May at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed and Jalna in a grand event.

Award Categories

Water Management: Safe drinking water supply, water conservation, water-saving initiatives, water tax collection systems, and wastewater management.

Electricity Management: Street lighting facilities, energy conservation, use of renewable energy, and innovative power generation initiatives.

Educational Facilities: School infrastructure, administration, and innovative practices for quality education.

Sanitation: Overall village cleanliness, waste collection systems, solid waste management, drainage systems, and open defecation-free status.

Health: Healthcare facilities, malnutrition levels, public health initiatives, vaccination drives, and epidemic management.

Basic Infrastructure: Roads, electricity, water, communication facilities, libraries, recreation centres, markets, and ease of bill payment systems.

Village Security: Dispute-free initiatives, action against illegal activities, women and child safety measures, and establishment of village protection committees.

Environmental Conservation: Tree plantation and preservation, prevention of deforestation and overgrazing, water and air pollution control, plastic ban, and protection of minor minerals (including sand mining control).

Administration / e-Governance / Public Participation: e-Panchayat services, online citizen services, public participation in gram sabhas and development works, tax collection efficiency, implementation of schemes, fund utilisation, and new revenue sources.

Employment Generation: Efforts to create local employment, self-help group initiatives, farmer producer companies, and collective farming projects.

Agricultural Technology: Technological adoption in agriculture, productivity enhancement, and crop storage planning.

Emerging Leadership: Newly elected sarpanches demonstrating significant contributions across categories.

Sarpanch of the Year: A sarpanch and gram panchayat demonstrating excellence across all sectors at the district level.
