Woman killed, 4 injured as speeding car mows down farm workers
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A speeding car ran over a group of women returning home after a day of farm work, killing one and leaving four others seriously injured on the Asegaon to Asegaon Phata road, at Daultabad, in Gangapur at 7 pm.on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Kavita Vikram Jadhav (35, Asegaon, Gangapur). According to details, five women from Asegaon had gone to work in the fields on Wednesday morning.
While they were returning home in the evening, a speeding car (MH-12-PH-8439) hit them near the village. Kavita Jadhav died on the spot, while Rohini Sagar Sotre (25), Hira Kamble (45), Sarla Sotre (36), and Sarla Sotre (37)were injured. All of them are residents of Asegaon.
After the accident, the car driver, identified as Sumit Thorat, fled the scene. Upon receiving information, Sagar Sotre and local villagers rushed the injured women to the Government Medical College and Hospital using an ambulance. However, doctors declared Kavita Jadhav dead after examination. The injured women are currently undergoing treatment. A case was registered at Daulatabad Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
