Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A woman on the verge of ending her life was saved just in time by alert citizens, turning what could have been a tragic incident into a story of timely intervention and humanity. The incident occurred around 10 pm on Wednesday beneath the Sangramnagar flyover.

The woman, a resident of the Garkheda area, lives with her husband and two children. She works as a school cleaner and also does household jobs to support the family, while her husband is a construction labourer. Following an argument over a phone call earlier in the evening, she left home in anger, saying she was going to her brother’s place. Instead, she went to the railway tracks near the Sangramnagar flyover and sat there with the intent of ending her life.

Fortunately, Swaraj Gorde Patil, who was near a nearby shop, noticed her and immediately alerted Shrimant Gorde Patil. Realising the gravity of the situation, they and their companions rushed to the spot and persuaded her to move away from the tracks.

Even after being pulled to safety, the woman reportedly insisted she did not want to be saved. However, Sneha Joshi, Anuradha Bhodwe, Shivanand Wadkar, Atul Patil, Kiran Sonje, and others continued to comfort her and brought her to a safe place. Moments later, a train passed through the same track.

Meanwhile, her husband, children, and relatives had been searching for her at different locations. They were later called to the spot, where the woman was counselled and safely handed back to her family.
