Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

In a shocking incident reported from the Bajajnagar area on Monday night, two thieves riding a speeding sports motorcycle allegedly snatched a gold mini necklace worth nearly Rs 1 lakh from a woman. The incident has created an atmosphere of fear in the locality and once again raised concerns over women’s safety.

According to the police, the complainant, Vandana Sambhaji Gaikwad (43), a resident of Sitanagar near Balaji Mandir in Bajajnagar, was returning home from Tisgaon on her scooter along with her daughter Sakshi at around 8 pm on Monday. At about 8.18 pm, when they reached near Kandil Hotel, two youths riding a black-and-orange sports motorcycle approached them. The duo intercepted the scooter by suddenly stopping their motorcycle in front of it.

The pillion rider, who was wearing a white hoodie, allegedly reached directly towards the woman’s neck and snatched her gold mini necklace. During the scuffle, the woman fell off the scooter. Following the incident, both accused sped away towards the Mohata Devi Temple area.

The stolen gold mini necklace weighed 19.689 grams and was valued at Rs 96,661, according to the complaint lodged by the victim. A case has been registered at the MIDC Waluj Police Station, and police have launched a search for the accused.
