Aurangabad, Dec 17:

The work of oxygen plant at the municipal Meltron covid centre has been delayed due to non-signature of the municipal administrator on the proposal.

The district administration has provided Rs 4 crore for the plant, but work on the project has not started as no work order has been issued to the contractor. The Meltron covid centre has a capacity of 300 beds. Of these, 125 beds are provided with oxygen. Severe covid patients need oxygen. The demand for oxygen beds had increased as the number of corona patients increased in the past few days. So the decision of setting up an independent oxygen plant at covid hospital was taken. As per the suggestion of guardian minister Subhash Desai, the corporation had submitted the proposal before the district planning committee. District collector Sunil Chavan sanctioned Rs 4.25 crore from DPC for the oxygen plant. The tender process for the plant has also been completed.
