Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A youth was caught while copying answers from his smartphone during the social welfare department examination being held at an online test centre in Chikalthana on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as Akshay Fakirchand Chavan (31, Jawahar Colony).

According to details, the Social Welfare Department conducted an online examination for the post of Inspector, at the ION Digital Center in Chikalthana Industrial Estate on Tuesday. During this test, Akshay cleverly entered at test centre with his mobile phone.

Akshay hid the mobile phone behind the CPU. A candidate pretended to go to the toilet and brought this matter to the attention of the supervisors. This matter came to light after checking the CCTV camera footage. He was detained and taken to MIDC Cidco police station.

According to the information given by the MIDC Cidco police, Akshay completed his engineering education and started preparing for competitive examinations.

He took his mobile phone to the examination centre when it was prohibited. He used Google to search for answers. A case was registered against him and he was released with a notice. Assistant Inspector Kailash Lahane is investigating this case.

Paper leaking & copying cases

Paper leaking and copying cases were exposed many times in the past in this centre during competitive examinations. Police said that more than five cases were registered in this regard at the MIDC Cidco police station.
