ZP president stage agitation for electricity connection

Zilla Parishad president Meena Shelke and Congress tehsil president Ramrao Shelke staged an agitation in front of Chikalthana Office of Mahaveetran on Saturday morning demanding electricity connection for two tandas.

They ended their agitation after executive engineering Mahaveetran Rural Circle has given in writing that connection will be given to the hamlets in seven days. Meena Shelke and Ramrao Shelke submitted a separate memorandum to the executive Engineering on November 11 for electricity connections at Bandhu Naik and Digha tandas of Varzhadi. They also met the power company officers and had threatened to agitate of their demand is not fulfilled. Nothing was done during the last month.

So, both the leaders staged an agitation in front of the electricity company office at Chikalthana. Superintending engineering Sanjay Akode and other officers met the agitators assured them in writing of giving connections within seven days.

In a letter issued by the Mahaveetran Company stated that Sangli-based Bharat Electrical was given the work before a month ago, but, its employees has gone to their native place for Diwali festival. “All required materials were transported to Bhambarda Sub-station, and the work of connection will commence from coming Friday. Those villagers will get a connection in the next seven days,” it was mentioned in the letter.
