Amid the second wave of Covid-19 in the country and the emergence of 'mucormycosis’ or black fungus cases across states, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has now launched a new facility for its member. Under this, in case of hospitalization, one lakh rupees will be paid immediately to the concerned member. EPF members can now immediately withdraw Rs 1 lakh in advance from their PF account in case of any medical emergency. The most important thing is that you don't even have to show a bill for it. This amount will be credited to the member's account after showing the hospital admission documents.

EPFO had issued a notification on June 1 last month. According to the report, EPFO members would be paid Rs 1 lakh as medical emergency if they were admitted to the hospital for any other ailment, including corona. For this, EPF has issued some guidelines for the members. Under this, the patient has to be admitted to a government or public sector unit hospital. If admitted to a private hospital, an officer will investigate. They will then have to provide complete information about the hospital and patients.

The employee or any member of their family will then have to submit an application with full details of the hospital and the patient. Therefore, it is not estimated how much it will cost and it should be mentioned that medical advance should be issued. This amount is then paid within one hour after the application is filed by the member or his / her family member for hospitalization. Earlier in May, the EPFO board had decided to give Covid Advance. This feature is different than that.

What is the procedure?

  • Visit EPFO's website epfindia.gov.in.
  • Then login to your account with your UAN number, password and captcha details.
  • Then click on Online Services (Claim Form 31-1910C and 10D).
  • Then verify your bank account linked to your UAN. Accept the term and condition.
  • Then you will see the online claim option at that place. Select the Medical Emergency option at that location.
  • Drop down and select PF Advance. (Form 31).
  • Then choose the reason for withdrawal. Also, select your expected amount, upload a scanned copy of the check and enter your address.
  • Click on Get Aadhaar OTP. Then enter the OTP on your mobile number. Then your claim will be filed.
