Shares of Vodafone Idea rose sharply in today’s trading session, gaining 3.92% to ₹10.07, as investor sentiment improved on the back of potential infrastructure-sharing developments.

The telecom operator has been in discussions with state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for network infrastructure sharing, a move that could help both companies bridge coverage gaps and significantly reduce rollout costs.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the two telcos may soon make progress on this front, with network sharing likely to begin in select circles such as Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The collaboration is also expected to extend to spectrum sharing, which could further improve operational efficiency and service quality.

The development comes at a time when Vodafone Idea is showing early signs of operational traction. As per data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the company has been adding subscribers for consecutive months, indicating a gradual stabilisation in its user base.

On the financial front, Vodafone Idea is also actively working on strengthening its balance sheet. The company is in talks with banks, financial institutions, and investors to raise around ₹45,000 crore to fund its capital expenditure plans. A successful fundraise could help the telecom operator accelerate network expansion and better compete with larger rivals like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.

The stock has already seen strong momentum recently, gaining over 18% in the past month, as investors factor in potential turnaround triggers and strategic developments.
