New Zealand National Cricket Team vs Bangladesh National Cricket Team Match: Tom Latham has been ruled out of the first T20I against Bangladesh at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Monday, April 27, 2026. Latham, who was set to captain New Zealand in the series opener, was struck on his right big toe while batting in a practice session on Sunday. New Zealand Cricket said he suffered a laceration below the toenail, and his availability for the remainder of the series will be assessed on a match-by-match basis.
In his absence, batter Nick Kelly has taken over as stand-in captain, becoming New Zealand’s 13th captain in T20 internationals.
Bangladesh captain Litton Das won the toss and elected to field first.
New Zealand also handed T20I debuts to Matthew Fisher and Nathan Smith as part of multiple changes to the side, while Bangladesh included pacer Ripon Mondol in place of Mohammad Saifuddin.
