Pakistan National Cricket Team vs Bangladesh National Cricket Team Match Scorecard and Highlights: Bangladesh continued their dominance over Pakistan in Test cricket, registering a 104-run victory in the opening Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
Bangladesh secured their first-ever home Test win against Pakistan and their third consecutive Test victory over the visitors since 2024. The hosts wrapped up the match late in the final session on Day 5 after pace sensation Nahid Rana produced a brilliant spell to finish with figures of 5/40 in Pakistan’s second innings.
Chasing a target of 268 on a deteriorating fifth-day pitch, Pakistan were bowled out for 163 despite a fighting effort from debutant Abdullah Fazal, who top-scored with 66. Fazal and Salman Ali Agha added 48 runs for the fourth wicket and briefly kept Pakistan’s hopes alive heading into the final session.
However, Bangladesh turned the game decisively after tea. Spinner Taijul Islam trapped Fazal lbw with a sharply turning delivery before Taskin Ahmed dismissed Salman in the following over. Nahid Rana then produced a fiery spell, removing Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan in quick succession to put Bangladesh firmly in control.
Rana bowled Rizwan with a sharp 147-kph delivery that jagged back into the stumps, while Taijul and the pacers cleaned up the lower order to seal a memorable win for the hosts.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh added valuable runs in the morning session after resuming their second innings. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto followed his first-innings century with another impressive knock of 87, while Mominul Haque contributed 56 as Bangladesh declared at 240/9 and set Pakistan a challenging fourth-innings target.
Bangladesh had earlier posted 413 in the first innings, powered by Shanto’s century alongside key contributions from Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim. Pakistan replied with 386, with Azan Awais scoring a century and several middle-order batters contributing fifties, but the visitors eventually failed to cope with Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack on the final day.
