New Zealand National Cricket Team vs England Cricket Team Match: England Women won the toss and elected to bowl first against New Zealand Women in the opening ODI of the New Zealand Women tour of England 2026 at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street on Sunday, May 10, 2026. 

England handed ODI debuts to Dani Gibson, Tilly Corteen-Coleman and Jodi Grewcock for the series opener. Gibson returned to international cricket after recovering from a back stress fracture that ruled her out for several months following her last appearance in October 2024.

Left-arm spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman also received her maiden international cap as England continued preparations for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup scheduled to begin in June. All-rounder Jodi Grewcock completed the trio of debutants in England’s revamped lineup.

The match also marked England’s first international appearance in 193 days since their defeat to South Africa in last year’s Women’s ODI World Cup final. In the absence of regular captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, off-spinner Charlie Dean is leading the side.

New Zealand entered the series with confidence after securing white-ball series wins against Zimbabwe and South Africa earlier this year under captain Amelia Kerr.
