The second day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium was abandoned on Saturday without a single delivery bowled. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the cancellation via X. Earlier, team India left the stadium as rain delayed the start of play. Players were seen departing in their team bus.

If India does not secure a win in this Test, their path to a hat-trick of appearances in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final in the UK may become challenging. They will need to achieve significant victories against New Zealand in a three-match home Test series starting October 16 and against Australia in a five-Test series away from home beginning November 22.

India currently leads the ICC World Test Championship standings with seven wins, two losses, and one draw from ten matches.

The first day of play was also affected by rain, with Bangladesh managing only 35 overs and finishing at 107/3. Mominul Haque was unbeaten on 40, while wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim remained on 6*. Pacer Akash Deep started strongly for India, taking two early wickets to reduce Bangladesh to 29/2.

India had won the toss and opted to bowl first. They won the first Test by 280 runs, having set Bangladesh a target of 515 runs, which they fell short of, being bowled out for 234. Key performances came from Ravichandran Ashwin (113 and 6/88), Shubman Gill (119*), Rishabh Pant (109), and Jasprit Bumrah (4/50 and 1/24). India leads the two-match series 1-0.
