Pune, Maharashtra (October 24, 2024): An incredible seven-wicket haul from all-rounder Washington Sundar helped India bowl out New Zealand for 259 runs on Day 1 of the second Test at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

Ravichandran Ashwin contributed significantly with three wickets, while Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra were the standout performers for New Zealand, both scoring half-centuries.

The New Zealand openers, Tom Latham and Conway, started positively against the Indian pace attack after electing to bat first. However, Ashwin struck twice, dismissing Latham and Will Young before the team reached 100 runs. After the lunch break, Ashwin also claimed the wicket of a well-set Conway, who made 76 runs.

This match is crucial for India, as they are trailing 1-0 in the three-match series. A win is essential to maintain their 12-year home supremacy and enhance their chances of qualifying for a third consecutive ICC World Test Championship final, especially with a tough challenge from Australia looming.
