IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings will look to continue their winning run and strengthen their Indian Premier League 2026 playoff chances when they face Lucknow Super Giants in Match 59 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, May 15, 2026.
The five-time champions defeated LSG by five wickets in their previous meeting at Chepauk earlier this week and will now aim to complete a season double over the hosts.
CSK are currently placed fifth in the IPL 2026 points table with 12 points from 11 matches. Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chennai have won their last three matches and remain firmly in contention for a playoff spot.
Sanju Samson is expected to continue opening the innings alongside Gaikwad. Samson has been Chennai’s standout batter this season, scoring 430 runs at a strike rate of 169.29.
Young batter Urvil Patel is also likely to retain his place after his explosive innings against LSG in Chennai. The right-hander smashed 65 runs and registered a 13-ball half-century, equalling the fastest fifty in IPL history.
The middle order could feature Kartik Sharma, Dewald Brevis and Shivam Dube.
Kartik Sharma and Dube played important cameos in Chennai’s previous win over Lucknow. Although Dube has not produced his best numbers this season, CSK management is expected to continue backing the powerful left-hander in crucial matches.
Despite injury concerns in the squad, CSK still possess a strong bowling attack. Jamie Overton remains unavailable due to a thigh injury, which could open the door for either Spencer Johnson or Matt Henry in the playing XI.
Anshul Kamboj has been Chennai’s leading wicket-taker this season with 19 scalps, while spinner Noor Ahmad and pacer Mukesh Choudhary are expected to play key roles in Lucknow conditions.
