The emphatic win helped Gujarat Titans move to 16 points from 12 matches with a net run rate of 0.551. GT also strengthened their chances of securing a top-two finish in the league stage after extending their winning streak to five matches.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, meanwhile, slipped to third position in the standings after suffering their fifth defeat of the season. SRH now have 14 points from 12 matches with a net run rate of 0.331.
After being asked to bat first by SRH captain Pat Cummins, Gujarat Titans recovered from early setbacks through a crucial innings from Sai Sudharsan, who scored 61 runs off 44 balls. Washington Sundar also impressed with a half-century as GT posted 168 for five in 20 overs.
In reply, SRH suffered a disastrous start after losing Travis Head for a duck in the opening over. Gujarat bowlers, led by Kagiso Rabada, dismantled the SRH batting lineup and bowled the visitors out for just 86 runs.
Rabada starred with the ball by removing Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Smaran Ravichandran as SRH collapsed to 32 for four. Heinrich Klaasen managed 14 runs, while Cummins top-scored with 19 before SRH were bundled out cheaply.
