IPL 2026, CSK vs LSG Today Match: Chennai Super Kings batter Urvil Patel equalled the record for the fastest half-century in Indian Premier League history after blasting a 13-ball fifty against Lucknow Super Giants in Match 53 of IPL 2026 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

The right-handed batter reached his fifty in just 13 deliveries, equalling the long-standing IPL record held by Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had achieved the feat for Rajasthan Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023.

Urvil walked in at No. 3 after the dismissal of Sanju Samson during the powerplay and launched an immediate assault on the LSG bowlers. He smashed four sixes in his first five deliveries and raced to 41 runs off just nine balls.

The CSK batter had an opportunity to break the record outright when he moved to 49 off 12 deliveries. However, he managed only a single off Mohammed Shami in the seventh over to level Jaiswal’s record instead.

After reaching the landmark, Urvil celebrated emotionally by removing his helmet and displaying a handwritten note that read, “This is for you, Papa,” along with a message in Gujarati. The celebration drew loud cheers from the Chepauk crowd and quickly gained attention on social media.

Urvil eventually scored 65 runs off 23 balls, hammering two fours and eight sixes at a strike rate of 282.61. He shared a rapid partnership with CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad to put the hosts firmly in control of the chase.

The batter slowed down slightly after reaching his half-century and was dropped by Digvesh Singh Rathi off Prince Yadav in the ninth over. However, he failed to capitalise on the reprieve and was dismissed by Shahbaz Ahmed in the following over.
