Asha Bhosle had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday evening due to exhaustion and a chest infection. Her son Anand Bhosle confirmed her death, with medical officials citing multi-organ failure as the cause.
Widely regarded as one of India’s greatest playback singers, Bhosle’s career spanned more than eight decades. She recorded over 12,000 songs across multiple languages and genres and was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the most recorded artist in music history. She was also a recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan.

Her mortal remains will be kept for public viewing at Casa Grande, followed by last rites at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.
