IPL 2026, CSK vs MI Today Match: Chennai Super Kings are yet to take a final call on the availability of MS Dhoni for match 44 of the Indian Premier League 2026 against Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
Dhoni has not featured in any match this season after suffering a calf injury before the start of the tournament. While he has resumed training and has been practicing regularly with the squad, his participation in the playing XI remains uncertain.
According to reports, the final decision is expected to be taken closer to the match, likely a few hours before the start. The team management is monitoring his fitness, particularly his ability to run between the wickets.
CSK batting coach Michael Hussey said Dhoni is recovering well but will return only when he feels fully ready. “Once he feels confident in his calf, I’m sure he’ll give the signal that he’s ready to go. At the moment, we’re guided by him. We’re waiting. I think all of Chennai is waiting,” he said.
Dhoni was seen taking part in net sessions ahead of the match and appeared comfortable while batting. However, the franchise has not confirmed his inclusion in the squad for the game. The final decision on his participation is expected at the toss.
