The Australia pacer joined the SRH camp earlier in March and began his rehabilitation in Bengaluru under the supervision of the team’s medical staff. He later returned to Australia for scans conducted by Cricket Australia before rejoining the squad on April 17.
Head coach Daniel Vettori has indicated that Cummins is expected to return only from April 25, when Sunrisers Hyderabad face Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. That timeline rules him out of the home fixture against Delhi Capitals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
In his absence, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been leading the side. Sunrisers Hyderabad have managed a mixed campaign so far, winning three of their six matches.
Hyderabad will head into the contest with some momentum, having won their last two home games against Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Playing in familiar conditions could provide them an added advantage.
