IPL 2026: Pat Cummins is set to undergo a fitness test in Australia this week as he eyes a return to Sunrisers Hyderabad for the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 season. According to Cricbuzz, Cummins, the regular SRH captain, is expected to rejoin the squad around April 17 if he clears the test. His availability for the team’s next match on April 18 will depend on the outcome.

The Australian fast bowler has been recovering from a back injury sustained last year, which ruled him out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. He has made only one competitive appearance since then, featuring in an Ashes Test in December.

Cummins had initially joined the SRH squad on March 27 ahead of their opening match but returned to Australia for further medical scans.

Ahead of the season, Cummins said he was targeting a return in the second half of the tournament and has been following a structured workload, bowling at regular intervals as part of his recovery plan.

His return would provide a significant boost to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s pace attack and leadership group.

In his absence, Ishan Kishan has been leading the side. Under his captaincy, SRH have won two of their five matches and are currently placed fourth on the points table. Kishan has also impressed with the bat, scoring 213 runs at a strike rate above 190.

Cummins’ potential return is expected to provide a significant boost to SRH as they look to strengthen their campaign in the second half of the season.
