Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside stadium premises and dressing rooms under venue regulations. In India, the manufacture, sale and use of e-cigarettes are also banned under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019. Violations can attract fines and legal action.
The incident has triggered widespread reactions on social media, with users speculating about possible disciplinary action from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, no official statement has been issued by the BCCI or Rajasthan Royals so far.
