The woman, identified as Sarita Sharma, said her daughter Anika requires a life-saving injection costing Rs 9 crore, which must be imported from the United States. She added that the family has raised Rs 4.1 crore through small fundraising camps. “I was trying to meet Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, as they have been helping children. In a desperate attempt to save my child, I went to the hotel where Rohit Sharma was staying. Emotions got the better of me, and I ended up grabbing his hand,” Sarita Sharma said in the video.
She apologised to the authorities and reiterated that she did not approach Sharma for publicity or selfies. “I request Virat and Rohit that if they receive my message, please help me,” she added.
