Hosts India on Tuesday announced their final 15-man squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup. With just under a month left for the month-long extravaganza which will start on October 5 and end on November 19, all eyes were glued on the press conference where the men In Blue’s squad will be selected.

Shikhar Dhawan: Shikhar Dhawan, who dominated the ICC tournament, did not get a chance in the team for the ODI World Cup. Shubman Gill took advantage of the opportunity to secure his place in the team and thus the 37-year-old Gabbar did not get a chance to make a comeback.

Sanju Samson: Right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman and captain of Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sanju Samson has been dropped from India's World Cup squad. Samson is currently in Sri Lanka as a reserve player in the Asia Cup squad with the Indian team.

Yuzvendra Chahal: Experienced leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal who was a long time member of India's limited overs team. But, he also did not get a place in the World Cup team. Chahal was dropped from the team due to his poor performance in the West Indies tour.

Ravichandran Ashwin: Veteran right-arm off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also been left out of the World Cup squad. There was a big debate whether India should pick an off-spinner in the team, especially to face teams with exceptional left-handed batsmen.

Prasidh Krishna: Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna recently returned to international cricket after a long layoff due to injury, but was left out of the World Cup squad. Krishna is currently part of India's Asia Cup squad. Krishna took 14 ODIs and 25 wickets from India

Tilak Varma: Mumbai Indians young player Tilak Varma played well in the Twenty20 series against the West Indies last month. Hence, he was given a place in India's Asia Cup squad. The 20-year-old is yet to make his ODI debut for India.
