Chennai Super Kings won the title for the fifth time after defeating defending champions Gujarat Titans in the final of IPL 2023. Ravindra Jadeja gave the IPL its 16th champion with a match-winning four at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Winning on the last ball, Chennai defeated Gujarat Titans and won the IPL title for the fifth time. Significantly, this is the first time in the history of IPL that a match has been played till such late hours.

The match scheduled for Sunday was postponed to Monday due to rain. After the first innings, on Monday too, rain started batting and the players had to sit on the bench. After the end of the first innings, rain came and the match went on till midnight.

Meanwhile, the champion Chennai team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be honored on June 2. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will be present to honor CSK's stalwarts.

Chennai won the match which went down to the last ball on Monday. The entire season of IPL 2023 revolved around the name Mahendra Singh Dhoni. But in the final match, Dhoni was dismissed on the very first ball. Two wickets from two consecutive balls as Mohit Sharma gave good news to the defending champions.

Dhoni fell victim to Mohit on the very first ball and there was silence in the stadium. But it was time for Ravindra Jadeja for Gujarat and he grabbed 10 runs off the last 2 balls to seal the match.

Dhoni's Chennai lifted the IPL title for the fifth time by defeating Gujarat Titans on the last ball. Needing 10 runs off the last 2 balls of the last over, Ravindra Jadeja showed his experienced skills.

He woke up the fans by hitting Mohit Sharma's fifth ball for a six. So, the last ball hit Jaddu's leg and went towards the boundary and the fans along with the Chennai players cheered in unison.

Under the leadership of Dhoni, Chennai have managed to win the title five times and have equaled Mumbai Indians' record. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have won the title of the tournament the most 5 times each.
