Pearl V Puri, who has starred in shows such as Naagin and Bepanah Pyaar, has been arrested by the Mumbai Police for allegedly raping a minor. Sanjay Patil, DCP Zone 2, Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar, said "The incident is old but the victim complained to us along with her mother at the police station and we registered case under Section 376 (rape) of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act(POCSO) Act, 2012." Patil added that Pearl is remanded in police custody by Vasai court. He refused to comment further as the case falls under POCSO Act.
Police said that it is an old case in which a minor girl had alleged that Puri had taken sexual favours from her by promising her a career in TV serials. Puri who has been acting in television serials for over nine years had befriended the girl, said the police. He has been remanded to police custody. Pearl V Puri made his debut in acting with the 2013 television show Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat. His first lead role was in the show Phir Bhi Na Maane...Badtameez Dil. The actor's most prominent role was in Ekta Kapoor's hit TV franchise Naagin. He played the role of Mahir Sehgal in Naagin 3. Some of the other Pearl V Puri's shows include Naagarjuna – Ek Yoddha and Bepanah Pyaar. Pearl can be currently seen in the TV show Brahmarakshas 2 as Angad Mehra.
